Teaching

As well as being an active performer, Nick has developed an array of experience working within the field of education. Nick is currently a member of the learning team at Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG) and continues to work on Cheltenham Festivals’ ‘Musicate’ program; both of these roles have seen Nick develop an integral understanding of how to inspire the next generation of musicians and have provided training opportunities that cover fresh, innovative approaches to music education.

Being a saxophone specialist, Nick is able to teach from beginner level right up to advanced in both the classical and jazz idioms. Nick is also an established Clarinetist and is happy to teach Clarinet to the same high standard. Whilst it may seem Nick is a practical musician, being an avid composer, Nick also has the knowledge and experience to teach composition as well as music theory.

Whilst it is more than acceptable to learn music just for personal gains, Nick has experience dealing with both ABRSM/Trinity’s Classical and Jazz syllabuses and his students regularly achieve high results.
